DIY S'mores Bar set up

A few weeks ago we made a DIY S’mores Bar set up for a little entertaining and I. just love how it turned out! I wanted to share with you what we did and give you all the details on making one of your very own. From the photos you can tell that we created this DIY S’mores Bar set up outside and in the fall. However, this is truly a way you can entertain throughout the year, even when you’re inside.

Ways to cook the S’mores

To start, you will need to have a way to cook your marshmallows for the s’mores. I personally didn’t want to have this whole set up right by the fire pit in the garden with kids running around. The idea of a lot of kids near the fire pit makes me nervous. Not to mention the pointy marshmallow sticks.

Instead I wanted to find a way to have a kid-safe set up and bought a S’mores Junior {HERE}. I love that this was a safer option to use for cooking the marshmallows and really loved the safety screen. The only other things I wish I would have had include more canned heat for it {HERE}. The heat ran out within about 30-40 minutes and it would have been nice to have more.

Also, you might need additional marshmallow sticks because it only comes with two. I think these fondue sticks {HERE} would actually work best for this system or any other S’mores maker system out there.

To create this DIY S’mores Bar set up, I knew I wanted to use glass containers for holding the food items. I actually had a lot of these glass containers {HERE} already. I had purchased them for other things in the past and knew they would be wonderful for the DIY S’mores Bar set up. I love that they’re easy to open, still have a silicon piece to guard the rim of the glass and that they’re see through. They make for a much more attractive display but also keep the food safe from the elements. It was actually misting when I photographed this but the food was nice and dry.

Besides the jars, I wanted to have a building plate. I had a long, rectangle plate that I’ve had as part of a set since we got married. I liked using that because it was easy for people to layout their s’mores on. If you don’t have one and want one, you can find a selection {HERE}.

To create height and give some levels to our different food options, I used a piece Kevin and I built last summer {HERE}. I use this wooden centerpiece that we made all the time in all different table builds. It was in my Halloween Buffet, I up-cycled one of them {HERE} last fall with a pattern and used it {HERE} in a summer tablescape.

We also served Apple Cobbler and Pumpkin cake at this DIY S’mores set up, which is why I have the reusable chafing buffet set up.

Food stuff to create the s’mores

As I mentioned earlier, i really wanted people to have option for creating their s’mores. I love food options and sometimes like to have a little taste of it all. My family typically has about 10 desserts at holiday time and I’m sure that’s where my love for options originated. So, to create the sandwiches in the S’mores Bar set up we had marshmallows for the gooey center and then the following:

Sandwich pieces:

  • Grahams Crackers
  • Chocolate Chip Cookies
  • Shortbread cookies

(I tried to find chocolate graham crackers too but had no luck.)

  • Hersey’s Bars
  • Hersey’s with Almonds
  • Oreo Hersey Bars
  • Crunch Bars

With all these fun options, the sky was really kind of the limit when it came to creating the different s’mores bar combos. We also served apple cider as the drink option, but if you can find a way to add milk in, do it! All that chocolate deserves it. 🙂

Thank you so much for visiting today, friends! I hope you loved our DIY S’mores Bar set up and it inspires you to make one of your own!
